We particularly enjoy getting a chance to introduce vintage partner dances to high school students and have been fortunate to participate with a few schools in Hamilton. Our dance lesson can be adapted to fit within a number of different curricula such as, theatre, dance, history, music, phys ed, and physics. We enjoy the opportunity to use our educational training to enhance your lesson plans with dance as an active learning strategy.
“We were so thrilled to have Margot of the Hammer Hoppers join our grade 10 history class for a dance lesson. It was a very entertaining way to have students actively participate in the past. As Margot explained the dance moves, she also explained how the dances reflected the historical time period. It made aspects of the Roaring Twenties and Dirty Thirties come to life for students.” C. Ruelens (Hamilton District Christian High School)
“For my wedding day, my Dad and I wanted to shake things up for the father-daughter dance and dance a fun, upbeat song instead of the more traditional slow dance. We reached out to Margot from the Hammer Hoppers to see if she’d be willing to help us learn some swing moves to execute on the big day, which was quite a challenging task for her as neither of us have much dance experience, but one she graciously welcomed. We had an absolute blast throughout our private lessons with Margot, which culminated with the most fun, playful dance of the night and one that certainly had the other wedding guests laughing and cheering us on!” E. Milko
“The Hammer Hoppers made a new winery event into a huge success. Between The Lines Winery’s Sip & Swing was a swing class and open dance night lead by Margot Smith and the rest of the very talented Hammer Hoppers. Their participation drew guests from Ottawa to London to our winery in Niagara-on-the-Lake. You can’t ask for a better partner.” Between The Lines Winery
